The Hood River area is a major agricultural area. It's a well known apple growing region as well as one of the world's leading producers of winter pears.

The strong winds of the Columbia River Gorge make this a world-renowned windsurfing area. The Hood River Event Site is used for local and international windsurfing events, or used by amateurs regularly.

Tours by air of the Hood River Valley, Columbia Gorge and Mount Hood are available from Flightline Services. Take a ride on the Mount Hood Railroad, visit the History Museum of Hood River, or tour and taste at the Full Sail Brewing Company.

Portland is just an hour drive to the west, so big city amenities aren't far away.
